If you just repair the current entry points without sealing the potential penetration points, a different family of squirrels will just move to those potential entry points.

In addition to the service agreement we may also take photos to document the inspected areas of your structure with current and/or potential squirrel entry points and contaminations as evidence/proof to you of the issues associated with the squirrels and to protect Your Squirrel Professional from any potential liabilities. 

Your squirrel service agreement will also contain a description of the warranty, its limitations, and its time period.  The warranty will not start until the final repairs on your structure or 100% eviction is confirmed by Your Squirrel Professional and you.  It is limited to a family of squirrels entering the interior of your structure.  The warranty time period will not be less than one year and will not exceed the manufacturer’s minimum service life of any exclusion material we use on your structure.  Prior to your warranty expiring, we will send you a renewal notice letting you know your squirrel warranty is getting ready to expire.  Upon the renewal payment, as stated on your squirrel service agreement, we will return to you structure for reinspection. 

Your squirrel service agreement will contain a price to exclude and remove the squirrels from your structure. The price reflects the Your Squirrel Professional’s ability and experience to perform msquirrel removal services based upon industry standards, material costs, labor, and profit.

What happens after the squirrels are removed from your structure?

Squirrel Exclusion is a technique where all the current and potential mouse entry points stated in your squirrel service agreement, are made uninhabitable or impervious to a squirrel by the use/application/installation of exclusion materials by Your Squirrel Professional.

Squirrel Exclusion materials are squirrel proof building materials or components that may be used/applied/installed/dispensed, but are not limited to, caulk, adhesives, or sealants, backer rod, chinking, foam, wire mesh, metal flashing or coil stock, chimney caps, or any other squirrel proof building construction materials that will prevent squirrels from entering your structure once the squirrel repairs have been completed

Squirrel Exclusion materials will be applied to all current and potential squirrel entry points that lead into the interior of your structure from the exterior of your structure. Squirrel entry points are any area typically above the gutter lines of your structure and any areas that may emit air draft from your structure that are greater than or equal to 2 inches round or 2 inches wide and 32 inches long regardless of its orientation.

Squirrels create more mental damage to people than physical damage to their property.  There are several theories and misconceptions about squirrels that can really scare people.  We stick to the facts about squirrels and will educate you to the best of our knowledge to help with that fear of squirrels. Each msquirrel that lives in your home or business will expel 15 -30 droppings a day and urinate everywhere they travel.  Over time the buildup of msquirrel droppings and urine can create a lot of damage to the insulation in your home or business.  The combination of squirrels droppings and urine can create a strong offensive odor and will contaminate your attic and crawlspace insulation.  The longer the squirrels are in the structure, the more damage their droppings and urine can create.  There are other issues associated with the buildup of squirrel droppings in a structure that are discussed in the Squirrel Health Concerns section.

The only way to determine if you have squirrel damage to your residential or commercial structure or in your attic or crawlspace is to have Your Squirrel Professional perform a squirrel damage assessment.  A squirrel damage assessment involves inspecting the exterior of your structure and areas that squirrels are living in, such as your crawlspace or attic. If the squirrels have been in the house for a long time and the squirrel droppings and urine accumulate, then there is a possibility of squirrel damage.  Squirrel damage on the exterior and interior of the structure is usually determined at the time of the initial inspection.  Most of the squirrel damage we find is behind the gutter near a down spout, through the gable end louver vents or the attic fan in the roof.  Sometimes we see are the droppings and urine stains on or in the insulation in the attic and crawlspace.  At this point a partial clean-out or a full attic restoration will be necessary.

Squirrel Body Size:

• Average Adult Squirrel Length:  14”-21” long.  Tail:  7”-10” long.

Squirrel Voice and Sounds: 

A rapid bark is given when excited or warning to other squirrels.  Chattering the teeth is a sign of stress.

Squirrel Tracks: 

Hind track is 1” long with 5 toes and the pad shows completely tapering toward the heal.  The front foot is half the size of the hind and a wide heal pad.  The distance between tracks is 3”-4”.

Do I have to sign a squirrel service agreement?

How many squirrel traps will you set?

• We set a minimum of two professional grade single door humane live capture traps or one professional humane live capture colony trap.

Why are the squirrel traps covered?

• We have rigid metal covers fabricated to cover the top, sides and bottom of the trap for several reasons.
• The top and sides are to protect the squirrel from the weather.
• The bottom is covered to help reduce any urine or feces from being left on your roof.  It also reduces damage that the squirrel can create by trying to dig its way out of the trap.
• This cover also prevents curious people that may pass by from seeing the squirrel in the trap.
• It also reduces stress to the squirrel while it is in the trap because it feels protected and unseen.
• We do not use cloth material to cover our traps because the wind may blow it off and the squirrel will usually pull the cloth into the trap leaving it uncovered. 

Do you put enough food and water in the traps for the squirrel in case you cannot get to it right a way?

• Yes.  There is plenty of food for the squirrel.
• Yes.  In the warmer months we will attach water bottles to the traps if necessary.  We like to place the traps in shaded areas to reduce heat and dehydration. 

Will you inspect my attic and crawl space?

• Yes, only after we have trapped the squirrels out of your house to inspect for damages.
• Or we are having trouble finding the entrance hole, which is rare. 

How long is the squirrel service fee good for?

• Your squirrel service agreement will specify the time period that it is good for, which is usually a minimum of 5 days.
• If the squirrels have not been caught in 5 days, which is rare, we will leave the traps out as long as it takes to catch them for an additional weekly fee that is stated in the squirrel service agreement.

How long does your standard service last once you pull the traps?

• Our standard service fee is usually a minimum of 5 days.  Once we pull the traps or after the squirrels have been captured, we will re-set the traps if another squirrel is seen or heard for the additional weekly fee.

Why did you pull the traps before 5 days?

• Once the squirrels have been captured and we have not had any captures or you have not seen or heard any activity in a week we will pull the traps and perform the repairs.  Leaving the traps set will only increase the chances of capturing squirrels looking for a new home. 

Will you repair the damaged areas to prevent future squirrel problems?

• Yes.  We will inspect the entire structure to find the current problem area(s), as well as any potential problems areas that should be repaired. We will give you an itemized estimate of these repairs and prices in your contract.  You have the option to do what repairs you feel comfortable with.  We will only recommend repairs that we feel are important to prevent future problems.

Do you warranty your squirrel repairs?

• All of our warranties have a one-year minimum, with an option to renew that warranty at the end of that year.

How long will you renew your squirrel warranty?

• As long as you keep paying the renewal we will keep it under warranty.

What do I get with the annual squirrel service warranty renewal fee?

• Once we receive your payment for the renewal we will return to your home and inspect the repaired areas for penetration from the squirrels.
• If a squirrel penetrates the structure while it is under warranty, we will remove the squirrels and repair the original damaged area for free.

What happens if a squirrel penetrates an area that did not require repair in the initial service?

• We will remove the squirrels for free and there might be a minimal charge for the repair.
• If the penetration point is obviously something we overlooked, there will be no charge at all to remove the squirrels and repair the damaged area.

What if a different type of animal penetrates your squirrel repairs?

• If this were to happen, we probably would treat it as if it were the same animal.

Does this annual squirrel service warranty renewal fee inflate as the house gets older?

• No it does not.

What does squirrel exclusion mean?

• It is a technique where damaged areas or possible penetration points are made uninhabitable or penetrable to the squirrel. 

How often do you re-bait the squirrel traps?

• Every 1 to 5 days depending on the time of year and weather.
• We like to keep the bait as fresh or not dried up as possible.  If you feel like the trap needs bait or you do not see the bait in the trap, call us and we will send someone out to re-bait it as soon as possible.

What if a squirrel is trapped when you come out to re-bait?

• We will call you or leave a note on your door that we picked up an animal.

What types of squirrel bait do you use?

• We use specialty paste baits that are formulated for squirrels designed by professionals in our industry for professionals

How many squirrel traps will you set?

• We set a minimum of two squirrel traps, more if available.

Where do you set the squirrel traps?

• As close to the squirrel's den hole area as possible on the outside of the house.

Can the squirrel get out of the trap?

• No.  We use professional grade traps with doors that lock once they close.

How much are the squirrel repairs?

• We will inspect the entire structure to find the current problem area(s), as well as any potential problems areas that should be repaired.  We will give you an itemized estimate of these repairs and a price in a seperate repair agreement.  You have the option to do what repairs you feel comfortable with.  We will only recommend repairs that we feel are important to prevent future problems.

I have 30 squirrels in my yard at times and I do not want to pay to have every squirrel in the neighborhood trapped.

• We will not trap every squirrel in the yard or neighborhood.  We anchor the traps on your home next to the hole(s).  
• Squirrels are very territorial and we will only trap the squirrels that know where the hole(s) are. 

What happens if you start catching a bunch of squirrels?  

• We average 2 to 5 squirrels per job.  Very seldom do we catch more.  
• We recommend that as long as we are catching squirrels and the customer is still hearing noise, that the squirrels should be removed.  We will discount the service once we are done.

How do I know what type of rodent is in my attic?

• I am hearing a gnawing and scratching noise early in the morning before daylight and in the evening just after dark in the same place.  Probably Gray Squirrels.  
• I am hearing a lot of noise in my attic late at night.  High pitched chirps, gnawing, scratching and thumping noises.  Probably Flying Squirrels.
• It is always safe to Contact Us and make sure.  Other animals that frequent attics and wall voids are Opossums, Raccoons, Rats, and Mice.

When would be a good time for you to get in my attic to set the squirrel traps?

• We do not set squirrel traps in the attic space for gray squirrels, because they generally do not eat in their nesting area.  
• It is possible to trap gray squirrels in the attic, but takes a long time.
• Entering the attic space where the squirrels are can be dangerous and it also makes the squirrels a little weary to the traps.

How soon can you set the squirrel traps?

• We will typically set the squirrel traps the day you call.
• We always have squirrel traps available.
• We carry the necessary traps needed in our trucks daily on a seasonal basis to better service the customer the day they call.
• We do not like to put anything off until tomorrow.

How often do you check the squirrel traps?

• State law requires that the traps are checked daily.
• We ask you as the customer to check the traps and notify us when we have an animal in the trap.
• By the customer checking the traps, this will eliminate additional costs to the customer and it will also speed up the removal process.

How do I get in touch with the technician once a squirrel is trapped?

• The contract has our office number on it as well as our business card.
• Our office manager will notify the technician.

We live out of town and cannot check the squirrel traps everyday?

• We can provide a complete service to you.
• If this is a rental property we can contact the tenants and ask them to check the traps if necessary.

We are going out of town next week and do not have anybody that can check the squirrel traps daily?

• We will make arrangements to have our technicians check the traps for you.
• An additional cost may be incurred.

Will you pick up trapped squirrels on the weekend and holidays?

• Yes, we work on the weekends.
• We typically shut the traps down for holidays so that the customer does not have to be bothered with checking them.

How long does it take for a technician to pick up a squirrel once I have called it in?

• We will make every effort we can to pick up the squirrel and re-set a trap as soon as possible.
• We often have two to three trucks out at a time and the office manager will notify the closest technician to your property. 

Where do you relocate the squirrels?

• We have several areas that we can relocate the squirrels.
• We take them a minimum or 10 miles away.

What do you do with the squirrel after you catch it?

• Our permit allows us to transport the live squirrels to another location to be relocated.

Why can’t you just seal up the hole(s) in the middle of the day when they are out of the house and we are not hearing any noise?

• Gray Squirrels are in and out of their nest all day.  You hear more noise in the morning and evening, because they are all in there at once.
• You are taking a chance on sealing a squirrel in the house and it dieing in there.  
• Most importantly, once a squirrel(s) has established a nesting area in your home it will do everything it can to stay.  If the squirrel(s) are out and we seal up the holes, the squirrel(s) will only chew another hole somewhere else in the house.
• The more that you mess with the squirrels the smarter they get and the harder it is to trap them!

How do you all know when to seal up the squirrel hole?

• Once we go a couple of days without catching anything, we will cover the hole with tape or just seal the hole.
• Generally, once you go through a series of catches and they stop, you have removed the squirrels that know where that hole is.
• If we are in doubt, we will contact the customer to see if they are hearing any noise.

There is a squirrel trapped in my wall, can you get it out?

• There is a good chance that the squirrel is not trapped in the wall, it is most likely building a nest in that location.
• Once a squirrel gets in a house it can go anywhere.
• If a squirrel is actually trapped in the wall void, then we can remove it by cutting a 4 1/2  inch hole in the wall to remove it.
